Quality Craftsmanship, Built on Experience
Founded in early 2020, MS Kitchens & Cabinetry is a local Ballarat business built on skill, dedication, and a commitment to doing things right. What started as a one-man operation has grown into a trusted team of six, led by owner Matt Doherty, who brings over 15 years of hands-on cabinetry and joinery experience to every project.
From homes and schools to office fit-outs, our work is defined by one simple philosophy: Do it once. Do it right.

Our Story
After years working in both joinery and carpentry, Matt decided to branch out on his own, combining technical know-how with a passion for quality workmanship. Within months, the business took off, quickly earning a reputation across Ballarat and Melbourne for precision-built cabinetry and honest service.
Despite launching just before lockdowns hit Australia, MS Kitchens continued to grow, proving that reliability, transparency, and quality never go out of style. Today, we work with both domestic clients and builders across Victoria, delivering cabinetry that is practical, modern, and made to last.

Our Team
We’re a small team of six fully qualified joiners and dedicated cabinet makers who take pride in what we build. Each member contributes their expertise to every project, from conception to completion, ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered and expertly executed.
Working side by side with Matt is Troy, the Cabinetry Design Manager, who oversees cabinetry design, production, and installation. As Matt’s right-hand man, Troy ensures every job runs smoothly and that each project is delivered to the highest standard from start to finish.
Together, the team brings a mix of craftsmanship, modern technology, and good old-fashioned reliability to every project. There are no shortcuts and no compromises.

What We Do

Our Process

Initial Meeting and Concept
We start with a meeting to understand the client’s vision, lifestyle and how they want the space to feel. This helps us create a design that suits their needs.

Finalising the Design
Once the design is approved, our office team prepares everything in Wood CAM. Each component is planned in detail so the CNC machine can cut every piece accurately.

Factory Assembly
After cutting, our assembly team builds each room in the factory exactly as it will appear onsite. This is where we check the fit, finish and overall functionality before anything leaves the workshop.

Transport to Site
When everything passes our quality check, the cupboards and components are packed securely into our vans or trucks for safe delivery.

Onsite Installation
Our installers take over from here. They fit each element with care and precision to ensure the final result matches the approved design.

Handover
Once installation is complete, we hand the finished project over to the client, ready to enjoy.
